The Work Behind the Book....
Hello everyone, I am Dennis Chowen, the author of Boss Mouse. Along with the work of myself, my wife, Roxie Chowen, and a neighbor Jeanine Harms, the book Boss Mouse was created.
I would like to tell you a little bit about myself along with my wife and neighbor.
I am a naturalized American citizen, born in Canada, and raised and educated in the Midwest, a former elementary school teacher and principal, holding a Masters Degree in Education. I spent a decade in the education field before entering a career with the U.S. Army.
During my first career, I served as fifth/sixth grade teachers, storyteller, and principal. I hold a lifetime membership in the National Education Association, initiated GED program, was president of the local teacher's association, nominated for Outstanding Principal, and am now on the School Board for the third largest area-wide district in the U.S.
I have recently retired from my second career with the United States Army at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During this time I served on three continents and traveled to more than 40 countries. In my off-duty hours, I could be found storytelling in youth centers, clubs, and chapel organizations.
My wife Roxie and I live in Sturgis, South Dakota. Roxie is a musician and also the composer of the Boss Mouse Theme Song. Together, we have three children living in Virginia and Florida.
Our close friend and neighbor, Jeanine Harms is the illustrator and co-lyricist for the song.
